Project 365> Day Nineteen

A picture of a picture.

I always have the privilege of taking photos of my family.  I was able to shoot this photo of my Nana in the studio quite a few years ago and its one I'll always treasure.

A photo remains forever and ever.

Project 365> Day Seventeen

She loves to take pictures as much as I do.... Meet Amy from Calgary.
We don't always get to hang out due to hectic schedules, being 612 km away from one another, work, etc etc etc..... but when we do finally hang out....seriously we laugh.... and we laugh hard about the good times.  People say we look like sisters.... ;-)

Project 365> Day Sixteen

Its one of those Saturdays where you feel like laying back...taking your socks off, cracking your toes and surfin' the web. (Thanks to the foot model...aka Shawn) xoxox

Project 365> Day Fifteen

Sometimes you gotta just ruffle up your feathers to keep warm in the cold season. ..Maybe grab your favourite sweater, wrap yourself in your best blanket or wear two pairs of lucky socks.  Do what you need to do to keep warm... is what I like to say.

...and nothing does it better than good company.

Stay cozy on this friday night and enjoy your weekend. ;-)  The 365 continues!

Project 365> Day Fourteen

They are in season.
Delicious, sweet oranges.

Among the Europeans, Romans were the first to taste this juicy fruit. When you look closely inside an orange, it is one of the most intriguing fruit. I don't always anylize how an orange looks...but when they taste this amazing, its hard not to.

Project 365> Day Thirteen

"Know that you yourself are essential to this World. Believe that! Understand both the blessing and the burden of that. You yourself are desperately needed to save the soul of this World. Did you think you were put here for something less?"
-Chief Arvol Looking Horse

Shawn, thank you for bringing this quote to my attention.   After you read it over and over... it applies to so many aspects in business, life and play.

A quote to live by, a quote to be inspired by.  This quote reminds us why we're here on this planet.

Project 365> Day Twelve

How could you not go outside today?!?  The light was gorgeous, the air was crisp....there were no sounds.
...And this scene caught my eye right away.

Project 365> Day Eleven

Vintage cameras have always been a thing I like to collect.  I honestly don't think there is too many to have in ones collection.  Some work, some don't... but they work for my photogenic needs.

Palm Springs

It wasn't long ago we hit the open road to Palm Springs, along the way experiencing scenery at its finest.  We witnessed powerful winds, freezing snow, blowing snow...and breaking into new territory we experienced the warm air we missed so much.  That same journey will happen in a short while.  I can only hope we have less of a snow storm to travel through...or maybe a plane will get us there this time.  The plan is yet to be determined.... but I'm very excited for the inspiration that California will bring in March.

Project 365> Day Ten

Anyone who can play the piano amazes me.  It takes coordination and patience.

Project 365> Day Nine

When any type of sickness falls upon your family...you start to feel like a sunflower left out in the snow.  There is always hope though.  Hope conquers all.  New sunflowers will bloom in the summer months and that thought... is everything to look forward to. ;-)

project 365> Day Eight

For almost a century, Rolex has grown to become one of the most renowned companies in the history of watchmaking.  If you wear a Rolex... you'll never own another watch.  Quality over quantity is what I like to say.

Project 365> Day Seven

I love the look of a good wine bottle...complete with crisp wine glasses.  The use of natural back light can do wonders when achieving depth and contrast in your photographs.

Candle Making

Coming home to supper made and the laundry done is one thing.... but coming home to the smell of my family making beeswax candles?!?!?!?  Sheesh... I got it good I tell ya. Lucky girl I am. ;-)

Project 365>Day Six

When its times like these and the air is so cold outside... all you want to do is stay inside and make a gorgeous bowl of coconut kung-pao soup....loaded with veggies, rice noodles and chilli's.  Had to bring out the corelle dishes for this shot. ;-)

And by the way... a very great & loyal fan made it very clear that I pretty much cheated on my last 365 post.  This might be true. Yes, I may have skimmed by just taking a quick photo of something I had been staring at all day (aka the computer screen)... and yes anyone can take a picture of something. However, this really isn't what the 365 project is about.  I want to take great shots... not just ANY shots.  I realize there will be days that don't permit it... after all, sometimes "time" is a factor.

Yesterday was a reminder why not to forget the reasons for doing this as an artist. :-)

Project 365>Day Five

Only 360 more days to go!

I edit my clients in Bridge.... Such a handy dandy tool for working in RAW.

Project 365>Day Four

I can't always understand something that is fake.  A fake plant is something I can handle especially when it looks this cool closeup.

Project 365>Day Three

Sometimes you can almost wish you were a set of blinds... just to witness all the seasons at their finest.

Project 365>Day Two

A common morning scene on the bedside table. Coffee delivered... bobby pins...western living magazine.... and my glasses & watch waiting to be put on.

365 Project>Day One

Becoming a professional photographer is a dream for anyone who is passionate about capturing life through their lens. Once photographers reach that point, they are filled with enthusiasm and desire to create the best images they possibly can. I strive for this everyday.
If you truly love photography, that never goes away. But soon the pressure of running a business, meeting deadlines and creating a consistent product can take the joy out of picking up your camera “just because” – even just a little.  I'm still pretty good with taking a camera where ever I go.  I have the heavy purse to prove it. ;-)
I came across a very cool idea from The CWP Network. "Canadian Women Photographers Network"...What they highly suggested was starting a 365 day challenge. These have been popping up on Facebook and on blogs for a while now, and many people choose to face the challenge in different ways. I've seen some stay committed...some miss days here and there... some finish!
But lets face it... its a big commitment.
Basically this is how the challenge works:  (Its pretty simple.. but I'm guna get jiggy with it)
Take a picture, every single day. I know this sounds obvious, but many people I have seen doing a 365 challenge are just posting a photo a day. In my opinion, that’s cheating. It doesn’t take much work or imagination to upload an image.  So my vow to myself... is to take at least ONE photo a day and post it.  Just one... not 5... just one shot for you. I'll be taking a photo with the following guidelines in mind.
  1. Take a photo that makes you uncomfortable.
  2. Take a photo that inspires you.
  3. Take a photo that sums up your day.
  4. Take a photo that describes you without you being in it.
  5. Take a photo of something that moves you, in a way that moves you.
To me... its not hard. Its a little scary making such a commitment...but really... not hard. Its called a challenge for a reason... and I'm up for any challenge that puts a little snap in my click.

Have no fear Friday the 13th. This challenge starts today. :-0

Nerd Alert

I always wanted to wear glasses as a kid.  Looking up in silly jealousy at my sisters who HAD to wear glasses growing up... and then there was little old perfect 20/20 visioned me. lol

Little did I know what was in store for me in my 30's.  I got my wish. ;-)... Sorta.

Reality is... I've had my face stuck at a computer since switching to digital. .... So it could be for that reason I need glasses... it could be age...  it could be because you have to be careful what you wish for!

Dreams might take awhile... but in some shape or form, they might come true. :-)

Happy Friday!

Goodbye Decorations

As the last of the tinsel is vacuumed and swiftered away..... and the decorations are placed with care back in the storage containers, I can't help but think of how next Christmas will go. This one was so amazing with all my family close.  I couldn't have asked for a better season. ;-)

New Clients Welcome Etc!

Introducing my new meeting area.
Here, you will view more of my work, look at albums... and laugh over the fact that my door bell is still in fact sick... with a very very rare disease called "Iinstalleditmyselfanditsneverworked"

As you know I'd love to meet you!... Especially if you are contemplating booking a photo session or wedding day .  Its sometimes a big step having photos taken... regardless of what we are taking.  I'm always up for a freshly pressed coffee if you prefer to view more of my work in person... or to simply chat about all the details of your wedding, family session, boudoir session etc etc etc!

Let me know what works for you ;-)

Happy Tuesday!

Poem >www.thepoetrypad.com

Your Smile

When the day has been long
and the troubles last into the night
All you’ve gotta do is smile
and everything is suddenly alright

When I feel the weight of the world
upon my shoulders
and let things get under my skin
All you’ve gotta do is smile
and I’m ready to try once again

When words or actions of another bring me down
Or if I’m feeling pretty low
All you’ve gotta do is smile
and I know I’m not alone

When I’m hard on myself
and find it difficult to believe in me
All you’ve gotta do is smile
and I know I can accomplish anything

Your smile does so many things
it brightens up my day
Your smile is like a promise
that things will be okay

Your smile is all I really need
to ease fear, disappointment or doubt
Your smile lightens my heart
and it’s something I never want to be without

Open!

You know you have one.
Or at least it might be in your mind.... but its the list of tasks you want to accomplish this year.  I have many many many things I need and want to do this year and it all starts with that list.  ;-)  Either keep it in your head or if you're like me.... write it.

But with that said... work lives on and the studio is fully open for snappin' and the phone lines are open. lol  I'm back in biz, ready to take on the world. ;-)  Or maybe I should just start by finishing this fabulous cup of coffee and get caught up on those emails. ;-) Done deal.
