Project 365> Day Seventy-Nine

The scenario:
Your fridge is pretty much bare, with maybe the exception of some tomatoes, condiments etc ... a carton of eggs lingers in the background,  there are a few slices of leftover bread in the freezer.... and lone behold you've got yourself a 5 star rating breakfast. ;-)

You have eggs, you have a meal.

Its true.

I'm officially back in the Sask lands and ready to get back in the swing of things.  ;-)

No joke I actually just wrote "Today is a reason to be thankful....".... but really, everyday is a reason. In particular... I'm pretty thankful that it decided to be a sunny day today. When I woke up to overcast clouds...I was like.... uuuuugggggh really? How is a cloudy day supposed to get these california bones outta bed after being on holidays?? lol  Nonetheless, Sun you never fail me.  I'm thankful for you. ;-)

...and I'm thankful that my Shawn made it safely home after being stuck at the farm. I'm thankful its kristen's birthday today, I'm thankful for coffee, I'm thankful its friday & the weekend is almost here... I'm a big ol'pile of thankfulness today and I don't need a turkey to prove it. lol ;-)

Road trips...

....are better with someone you adore.
29 hours of talking, laughing, joking, sitting in silence.  Its fine by me.   I'm safe in the Super Duty and my driver is an excellent chauffeur. ;-)

The James Sadler mugs seem to go where we go...so this might be about as creative as I can get with them in a hotel room ....early in the morning...with improper lighting... on a time crunch. lol  ;-)

These XL babies are filled with coffee for the open road and its time to make some more tracks, as we make our journey back to the Sask lands.

Traveling in style... that's for darn sure. ;-)

We're down to the last few days here in paradise.... and I seem to be taking it all in at the moment. I'm about 90% ready to come home...but I'm not ready to leave the warm weather.  Maybe it will follow us home as we make our long journey back in the Super Duty!

The Staple... otherwise known as my 50mm lens.  It usually goes where I go because of the size & weight... and not to mention the fact that I love using it in low light conditions.

This baby is a powerful tool... yet tiny as can be.

Hallmark Card

When you stay in someones beautiful humble abode, I don't know about you...but the word thankful comes to mind.  I'm thankful for many things in my life. ... many many many... many things, experiences, people, places... all of the above.

Let it be known my Hallmark card would purely say... Thank you.
.... because this space has felt like home the last 3 weeks.  Its the kind of home you feel honored to visit and stay in.  ;-)

Nightlife

Every thursday we have visited the street fair on the downtown streets of Palm Springs.  The food, the art, the friendly people and the sights...complete with the warm evening fresh air.
Its something you could get used to having full time...but I miss little old Saskatoon. ;-)

Today's challenge: Shoot a pair of sunglasses.
Easy?
Not so easy actually. lol ;-)
It took quite a few tries before I was happy with this shot below.

I believe in a good pair of sunglasses.  After all... your eyes are pretty important, so you might as well protect them with style.  Now Im not talking about buying a pair of Dollarama specials (Hey Mom... you're guilty as charged!).... Im talking about investing in a great fitting pair of sunglasses... such as these Spy's. This particular pair is for men...but I have owned a pair of Spy's before (and-so-now-does the person who picked them up in Silversprings School girls bathroom) lol Nonetheless they are very affordable & stylish ... but best of all, the quality is present.

Flowers.
They are a powerful and beneficial part of life.  (I thought you should know this ;-) lol

The smell, the color... everything about flowers is simply amazing.  They heal friendships and bring happiness to those that are sick.  They bring brightness where there is none. They invite you to wonder and look.  When I take a picture of a flower, I see a little piece of heaven all wrapped up ready to burst with color and excitement.

Common sense tells us that flowers make us happy...so go ahead and buy yourself or someone you love some flowers today. ;-)  You'll be happy you did.

.... I'd like to announce my "curls" are back.
"They" kinda dulled away over the winter months due to the regular dry cold, but Im glad their back.  Turns out my hair really does love hot climates & relaxing vacations. (If you're a women, then I know you can relate...lol) I think your mood can reflect how your hair turns out.  I'm obviously in a massive state of happiness. lol

I used my 50 mm lens, ISO 400 F14 with a shutter speed of 200.  Thank goodness the windshield was clean. ;-)...and thank goodness Shawn was driving. ;-)

The under-rated banana chip.
Its the fruit that eats like a chip. ...which in my mind, is quite perfect.
You get your salty sweet craving fulfilled. Perfect again.

All in all... go treat yourself to something different.

The fact is I wanted to become a photographer because I simply love taking pictures.  I love being able to capture any moment possible, to freeze time, to make people around me see things in a new way and to always appreciate the simple things in life.   


I want to remember everything possible... and to pass on those memories.

The rain came today...
and for lack of better words... I don't mind one bit.
The air smells fresh and the birds are still singing. Its the perfect way to spend an afternoon absorbed in the sounds of freedom. ;-)

Shopping

I'd be flat out lying if I said the boyz in my life didn't like to shop.
They love to shop....
... and they might as well look GQ while doing it. lol

All trees are beautiful...but there is something unique about palm trees.  If you close your eyes and imagine a californian landscape, chances are you've pictured at least one palm tree in your mind.

Sometimes when I need to take myself to a place of relaxation, I think about palm trees.
