Project 365> Day Forty-Eight

A last minute impromptu tea party... with some good company.  A visit always brightens my day....especially when I can capture a precious face.

I simply have to show you some new techniques...
1st shot: Vintage cream
2nd shot: B/W Grainy Grain
3rd shot: Regular right outta the camera color  ;-)
All shots captured at ISO 800 50 @f3 using a 60mm 2.8 lens

Project 365> Day Forty-Seven

Very sad day today. :-(
I lost my Auntie Chris to cancer.  She fought as hard as she could with her family by her side.  We all loved her dearly.  I'll never forget the person she was and still is..only now in heaven.

A few weeks ago I was able to see her and capture some photos of everyone with her. It was one of those moments I realized how important it is to take pictures of every moment possible. Even if its hard.

The world works in mysterious ways and I'll never understand why cancer takes the ones we love.  Its not fair, but the most important thing is to never lose your heart in the process. Your heart keeps you strong till you find you can't take another breath. When its your time, its okay to let go and end the suffering.

She will be forever missed by her daughters, nieces, nephews, cousins, her husband, her sons, her sisters, neighbours, everyone.  She really was an amazing lady.

Project 365> Day Forty-Six

I'm sure the person standing in their living room window watching me take this photo was wondering... "what the heck is she taking a photo of??" ....Which is sometimes the reactions I receive when I'm out and about taking photos.  Its not till you take the shots home...load them, stare at them, crop them... do a few techniques. Then it all makes sense. (to me at least...lol)

I captured this image this afternoon but totally changed the feel of it.  Technology kinda rocks. lol

Project 365> Day Forty-Five

Okay okay... where are all my cat lovers out there?!?!.... You know who you are.  ;-)
I'm not a crazy cat lady obsessed with cats... but I do enjoy trying to snap a photo of them.  They look at you when they want to... and they pose unlike any american top model.  I couldn't help but post a series of "Jefferson"... and yes it doesn't take much to get on the web these days if you can model. ;-)

Happy Sunday everyone. ;-)
(For this shot only: ISO 500, 100 F4.5.... I used the window as my light source and it actually made quite a nice effect. This image is pretty much right out of the camera)

Project 365> Day Forty-Four

Game time is a pretty intense time... especially if you're 10 years old.

Project 365> Day Forty-Three

For the longest time I had a tape deck in my vehicle.  That's right. No jokes here. ...AND my stereo system still has a tape deck. No shame required here ...whatsoever. ;-) lol

Nothing better than kickin' it old school with the top down, listening to Milli Vanilli, Roxette and pretty much anything labelled with "The Best of...."   We all grew up with tapes... maybe some of you grew up with records. Heck I still collect those too. ;-)  ....But tapes were epic.  Blank tapes gave you a reason to stay up friday night ready to press record in hopes of capturing the top 10.  Those were the days.

Oh how times have changed...but now and again, I (literally) blow the dust off and rewind the hits.

 I love pressing play.

Project 365> Day Forty-Two

If the candle accidentally burns out. You simply light it again.
I think this applies to life in general.

If something isn't right with whatever... blow it out of the water and re-light the situation.  After all, a candle can keep burning with the proper care & attention. Handle with care. :-)

Don't forget whats important in your life.

Project 365> Day Forty-One

The underrated carnation needs more recognition.  I think carnations should be the new found flower of 2012.  Imagine your wedding bouquet jam packed with carnations and nothing else. Gorgeous.
Carnations are durable as nails... and pretty as waterfalls.

What I found interesting is the fact that scientifically they are known as the "flower of love" or the "flower of the gods", depending on the source.  Cool.  I'll take 1500 of them any day.  ;-)

So when you're kids ask you if you learned anything today, you can tell them this:
Light red carnations are often used to convey admiration, whereas the dark red versions express deeper sentiments of love and affection. White carnations are associated with purity and luck... and pink carnations are often given as a sign of gratitude. In the early part of the 20th century, carnations became the official flower of Mother's Day.  Which brings me to my next photo idea.  ;-)

This up coming Mother's Day (which is also my birthday) wink wink, nudge nudge... I'll be hosting a carnation tea & picture taking.  No worries, I'll remind you closer to the date when you can start booking in. ;-)  This is just a hint to spark some interest in your ears.

So here is my version of the hot pink carnation.
...99 cents of shear beauty.

Fourth Niece!

I think my sisters should just keep having babies. I almost can't handle the cuteness!

She did so well for being sick with a nasty cold.  If I could make one rule with kids... is that they don't have to get any kind of sickness whatsoever.

 What a little trooper.

Project 365> Day Forty

Soooooo its day 40 of my 365 project/challenge.
Forty... For--Teeee.... lol
Only three hundred and some more days to go.... but I can't look at the big picture. I can only take one great photo at a time. Just like I take one day at a time.

These are Steel Cut Oats.
100% whole grain and packed with fibre and you can see the raw... pure... goodness.
(ISO 500 60 @f3.3, shot with one soft box light)

Project 365> Day Thirty-Nine

Many of you experience the sun coming up... especially if you have babies, kids, menopause ;-), animals... and especially if you're on a farm or acreage.

Today is family day. I hope you are able to spend it with the ones you love and if not, enjoy the sun just the same. :-)

Project 365> Day Thirty-Eight

I've never really had the same style as my mother. She loves things and lots of it.  I do like simple things....but I like taking pictures of lots of things. So go figure. lol

Pregnancy Session

I always like to see familiar faces in the studio and Im so happy this family is expecting again. Big sister is going to be such a good helper.

I couldn't wait to post a few teasers. ;-) Enjoy!

Project 365> Day Thirty-Seven

I've always said it becomes art...when you get it on paper.

The best thing I ever did was make a collect of my favourite images and set it to words.  The fitting title for this book: Images & Words.

WW ..not A & W.

Maintaining a balance with life in general, can be a challenge. Life is about challenges (good or bad), I think. Whether its with weight, work, family, keeping your fridge tidy, ...literally... anything. ;-)

I've hit my goal a few times with weight watchers.  Even when I get off track, I come back. ... and I always receive the key and motivation I need. The secret to anything is staying faithful and committed. :-)

Little reminders seem to keep your heart in check.

Project 365> Day Thirty-Six

It was hard to just post one photo from this mornings winter frost.  (lol so I'll post a few ;-)

A pure breathtaking moment. Mornings like this, make me understand why we stick with the winter months. ;-)
